Feb 4, 2013

It is important to offer communities easy solutions to protect the environment and, Jazz 91.9 WCLK is thrilled to provide pathways to improve sustainability.  For the third year, Jazz 91.9 WCLK in partnership with Clark Atlanta University, the Atlanta University Center Consortium Institutions and Environmental Protection Agency will rally individuals to collect paper products, plastics,  cans, cardboard, glass, cell phones and computer monitors for AUC Recyclemania Day.   AUC Recyclemania Day takes place on Saturday, February 9 from 10:00 a.m. until  2:00 p.m.

Toni Love is an author, educator and hair loss specialist.  Join her Saturday, February 2 at 7am on WCLK for a look at the factors causing hair loss, and the proper approach to this condition from both the client and the stylist perspective.

Toni is joined by both a hair stylist trained to treat hair loss, and a client suffering from hair loss, for a frank discussion about what to do and what not to do.  Should you use hair extensions?  At what point do you need to treat your hair loss as a medical, rather than an personal appearance issue?

Jamal Ahmad(The S.O.U.L. of Jazz) was joined by young lions drummer Terreon Gully, trombonist Andre Hayward & pianist Marc Cary to talk about their involvement in the Jazz Education Network Conference and also to discuss the future of jazz music. Collectively, the three have played with the likes of Sting, Dianne Reeves, Abbey Lincoln, Betty Carter, Lauryn Hill and many others. New Music: Treblemaker By Ragan Whiteside

Ragan Whiteside's Jazz flute stylings bring to mind such contemporary giants as the late Dave Valentin or Najee in his early work. Jazz 91.9 WCLK always features her work, because it is outstanding as well she has chosen to make Atlanta her home when she's not touring. She's been in our studio and at our events for years. Treblemaker features a who's-who of accompanists, including: Bob Baldwin, J-Fly, Kim Waters, Marion Meadows, Tom Browne, The PR Experience and Frank McComb, among others. You can hear cuts from Treblemaker at various times on Jazz 91.9 WCLK in particular during Serenade To The City, Monday through Friday from 10:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m.
