Saturday, March 24 on The Local Take on Jazz 91.9 WCLK, I talk about Women's History Month with Attorney Bettieann Hart, a member of the Georgia Coalition of Black Women.  This year the coalition will honor one of their own, Dr. Rita Jackson Samuels.  Ms. Hart explains that while Dr. Samuels got her start in the civil rights arena working for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., she went on to become the first African American woman to serve on the personal staff for a Governor of the State of Georgia.

What do Kanye West, Josephine Baker and Diana Ross have in common?  All three of them are featured in Constance C.R. White‘s new book, How To Slay: Inspiration from the Queens & Kings of Black Style.

The former ESSENCE editor, noted author and fashion/beauty/style expert has released a new coffee table book paying homage to the gods and goddess of Black fashion who have influenced runways from Brooklyn to Barcelona.

I had the distinct pleasure of traveling to Hollywood, CA last week for an NBC Press Junket where I interviewed executive producer of The Voice—-Audrey Morrissey. The hugely successful music competition series is back for a 14th season and includes some new features and a new face—-Kelly Clarkson. The three-time Grammy Award winning vocalist joins existing coaches—-Adam Levine, Alicia Keys and Blake Shelton—-for what already appears to be a competitive season. For Morrissey, adding Clarkson to the mix has been a complete joy for her and hopefully the show’s viewers.

Saturday, March 17 on The Local Take on Jazz 91.9 WCLK, Dr. Zandraetta Tims-Cook joined me in the studio to talk about HIV/AIDS Awareness Month for Women and Girls. I asked her why we are in epidemic mode and what can women do to end the spread of HIV.

She talked about the Heather Ivy Society, a group of professional women who gather to support each other without fear of stigma. Some of the women are positive and some are there for support.
