2012 ANNUAL EMPLOYMENT REPORT


This filing represents the annual EEO report as required by the Federal Communications Commission for station WCLK, Atlanta GA.  It covers the period December 1, 2011 - November 30, 2012.


The station general manager is responsible for the station’s recruitment, employment and outreach activities and works in conjunction with Clark Atlanta University human resources department to properly post positions to achieve broad equal employment opportunity goals.


A). During this period, WCLK had no fulltime vacancy for positions with the station.


B).   While there were no recruitment sources used during this period, the licensee maintains the attached list of sources to be used when vacancies arise.

B).  Despite the lack of hiring opportunities, WCLK nonetheless actively participates in recruitment activities including job fairs as well as activities to recruit volunteers and high school and college students who are interested in radio broadcasting.   WCLK routinely networks with media organizations and maintains professional industry contacts in an effort to seek potential candidates for vacancies as they arise.


Jazz 91.9 WCLK conducts student training and internships each semester, Fall, Spring and Summer to actively engage students in radio broadcasting and multimedia, and as a means of creating a database of student workers as vacancies arise. During the period covered by this report, WCLK provided for training for 10 interns per semester for a total of about 30 student intern training opportunities over the one year period.  Students were provided the opportunity to shadow WCLK department heads to include production, membership, front office administration, sales, traffic and public relations.  Many students select their areas of interest so that they are employable in their field of interest upon graduation.


WCLK also selects work study applicants each year.  These students are provided paid training opportunities in their areas of interest.  WCLK hires about six work study students per year.


Jazz 91.9 WCLK participated in the Clark Atlanta University (CAU), School of Arts and Sciences, Division of Mass Community Arts job fair on November 17, 2011 at CAU. The event was coordinated and managed by the Director of Marketing and Communications for WCLK.


Jazz 91.9 WCLK participated in Congressman David Scott’s, Ninth Annual Jobs Fair on Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Georgia International Convention Center.  The event was coordinated and managed by the Director of Marketing and Communications for WCLK.


As openings arise, the station shares ongoing information with other public media colleagues  in Georgia and across the country in an effort to  tap ready qualified candidates.
