One Music Fest Drops Saturday In Old 4th Ward

One of Atlanta's most compelling music festival events is the annual One Music Fest, taking place on Saturday at Masquerade Music Park and Historic Fourth Ward Park.  This event features an amazing cross pollination of artists and genres.  The tag line for One Music Fest is Unity Through Music.  This year's lineup includes Snoop Lion, D J Kemit, Ruby Velle and The Soulphonics, Amel Larrieux, Quadron, Luke James, Res, and a re-union of ATL's legendary Goodie Mob, featuring Cee Lo Green himself.

Terence Blanchard Plays Miles With Gil Evans Orchestra On JazzSet

Join Dee Dee Bridgewater on NPR's Jazz Set at 7pm Sunday for an evocative set recorded live at Monteray with the Gil Evans Orchestra and Terence Blanchard on trumpet playing the Miles Davis parts on classics from Porgy and Bess and Sketches of Spain.  Delicious.

Gil Evans was born on May 13, 1912. In three collaborations in the late 1950s, he and his friend and Miles Davis steered their projects into a new era for jazz.

Jason Mott Talks About His Hit Debut Novel "The Returned"

North Carolina poet and novelist Jason Mott joined WCLK to talk about his first novel The Returned, in advance of his Sunday appearance at the Decatur Book Festival.  Mott's book imagines a world in which people who have died return to life and what impact that has on the lives of those they originally left behind.  It's earned critical praise and caught the eye of Brad Pitt's production company, which is creating a TV series based on the book that will be filmed in Georgia.

CAU President Dr. Carlton E. Brown joins Desmond Dickerson on CAU Now on WCLK for an informative and insightful conversation about all things CAU at the beginning of the school year.  The program can be heard on demand here and at 7:30am Saturday, August 30 exclusively on the Jazz of The City.

Dr. Brown discusses various initiatives, including the growth of the Cancer Research Center on campus, possible impact of the Atlanta Falcons stadium on the AUC, and outreach efforts to international students that will bring entirely new flavors to the CAU Promenade.
