WCLK Takes On Police Violence And Young Black Men-On The Local Take

The crisis involving the death of young black men at the hands of the police seems to have reached an awful crescendo this summer, where there have been four high profile questionable killings in less than 30 days, including Eric Garner in New York, John Crawford in Ohio, Ezell Ford in California, and most notoriously  18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.

The upcoming CNN DIALOGUES, “Athletes and Social Responsibility: Expectations in the 21st Century,” will be held Thursday, August 21 at 7 p.m. The event will be one of two Dialogues held in the 2014 calendar year, and the first Dialogue hosted at the new Center for Civil and Human Rights – which opened June 23 in downtown Atlanta.

Joshua Redman's Trios Live Takes Mainstream Deep, Overnights On WCLK

Joshua Redman has worked his way from young lion to jazz master, one of the true saxophone innovators of 21st Century jazz music.  On his latest release Trios Live, he meshes sax, bass and drums in vivid takes of everything from Kurt Weill's Moritat(Mack The Knife) to Monk's Trinkle Tinkle.

WCLK Program Director Aaron Cohen is airing out this release overnights on Serenade To The City on Atlanta's Jazz Station.
