Joshua Redman's Trios Live Takes Mainstream Deep, Overnights On WCLK

Joshua Redman has worked his way from young lion to jazz master, one of the true saxophone innovators of 21st Century jazz music.  On his latest release Trios Live, he meshes sax, bass and drums in vivid takes of everything from Kurt Weill's Moritat(Mack The Knife) to Monk's Trinkle Tinkle.

WCLK Program Director Aaron Cohen is airing out this release overnights on Serenade To The City on Atlanta's Jazz Station.

Depression And Suicide Awareness Information You Need To Know

The sad passing of Robin Williams is bringing awareness of depression and suicide into the community conversation more than ever before.  Depressed people can't always "get over it."  WCLK's Fulton Focus segment features key information you can use if you or a love one faces depression or suicidal thoughts.  Renee Lee-Ferguson is a licensed Professional Counselor and the Behavioral and Developmental Disabilities Health Program Manager for the Fulton County Department of Health Services and talked with WCLK's Rob Maynard about it.

The Jazz of the City, Atlanta 2007 inaugural portrait with Mayor Franklin and the Atlanta Jazz Community

Jazz 91.9 WCLK, Atlanta’s Jazz Station celebrates 40 years of service to the community this year with a series of yearlong activities.  One being the recreation of The Jazz of the City, Atlanta 2007 inaugural portrait with Mayor Franklin and the  Atlanta Jazz Community.  The shot is modeled after A Great Day in Harlem by Art Kane, 1958, which showcases 57 notable Jazz musicians.

Be Real Offers Relationship Classes To Help You Succeed

Kiplyn Primus was joined by Juanita Goss from Bethany Christian Services on the WCLK Public Affairs Block on Saturday, August 9, for a conversation about relationships, and how to keep the good ones going.  Bethany Christian Services is bringing the Be Real series of courses and workshops to Atlanta, under a grant from the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families.

Be Real offers relationship building and positive life skills workshops for couples and singles.

Catherine Welch is news director at Rhode Island Public Radio. Before her move to Rhode Island in 2010, Catherine was news director at WHQR in Wilmington, NC. She was also news director at KBIA in Columbia, Missouri where she was a faculty member at the University Of Missouri School Of Journalism. Catherine has won several regional Edward R. Murrow awards and awards from the Public Radio News Directors Inc., New England AP, North Carolina Press Association, Missouri Press Association, and Missouri Broadcasters Association.

Now that she manages a full newsroom she files less regularly for NPR’s All Things ConsideredMorning Edition and Weekend Edition.
