Cecile McLorin Salvant Talks With Jay Edwards On Jazz Tones

Cecile McLorin Salvant

On the Sunday, April 17 edition of Jazz Tones I will interview Cecile McLorin Salvant, who will be playing live at Rialto Center for Arts at Georgia State on Saturday, April 23.   Salvant won the 2010 Thelonious Monk Competition.   She was born and raised in Miami.   Cecile's ethnicity stems from a Haitian  father and French mother.  She lived in France and studied law as well as classical and baroque voice at the Darius Milhaud Conservatory.  Cecile performs her own unique interpretations of unknown and scarcely recorded Jazz and Blues compositions. She has performed at numerous festivals also with Wynton Marsalis and The Lincoln Jazz Orchestra. Her latest release is For One To Love. She has been Grammy Nominated twice for Best Jazz Vocal Album in 2014 and 2015. Don't miss Jazz Tones, Sundays from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Jazz 91.9 WCLK.
