Last week on Jazz Tones on WCLK(Sundays 3pm-7pm) I was joined by Brent Fischer. He is a Grammy-winning producer and BMI composer and arranger. He has credits on records with over 30 million copies sold for pop, R&B and Jazz royalty including Dianne Reeves, Raphael Saadiq, Al Jarreau, Prince and D'Angelo. Fischer worked with his father Clare Fischer for over thirty years. Clare Fischer was also a pianist, composer and arranger. Brent Fischer's unconventional harmonic sense empowers his orchestral writing, which is timeless and includes strings, soaring brass and woodwinds. Fischer offers master classes for universities and music conservatories in such areas as expanding compositional and arranging techniques, transcribing complex harmonies, and Latin Jazz. The latest Claire Fischer release is Son of a Dad, Pacific Jazz Claire Fischer Big Band on Clavo Records.
