Baltimore native classic jazz pianist Cyrus Chestnut brings his lithe technical skill and robust soulful style to The Velvet Note in Alpharetta Friday, December 2nd. Chestnut’s deep gospel roots and his love of swinging hard bop makes him one of the most incredible jazz pianist on the scene today. He’s honed his craft working with a number of amazing musicians like Jon Hendricks, the legendary Betty Carter, Terence Blanchard and Donald Harrison. This is Cyrus Chestnut’s debut performance at The Velvet Note and he will be joined by previous Betty Carter bandmate, bassist Curtis Lundy, and drummer Montez Coleman of McCoy Tyner’s band.
