Gentrification In Atlanta - Good or Bad? The Local Take Looks At Summerhill

Join me Saturday, April 10 at 7:00 a.m. on Jazz 91.9 WCLK for The Local Take.  Communities throughout Atlanta are changing rapidly.  The areas surrounding the Atlanta University Center are changing and are disrupted with the building of the Mercedes Benz Dome.

There are over 25 projects being considered for Memorial Drive intown.  The Westside Beltline is open and you can only wonder if it will bring development similar to the Eastside Beltline.

As communities undergo this rapid change, many questions persist.  Willour neighborhoods maintain their cultural relevance or will gentrification move residents out? Will promises from pro sports franchises and corporate philanthropists make life better in Vine City or Summerhill or will those words ring hollow?

In the months ahead The Local Take on Jazz 91.9 WCLK will have an ongoing discussion about the future of Alanta communities as the population in Greater Atlanta passes the 5.7 million mark.

Our first conversation is with Suzanne Mitchell, president of the Organized Neighbors of Summerhill. She talks about the history of Summerhill and the changes coming to the neighborhood when the Braves leave Turner Field.
