Human Sex Trafficking Problems, Solutions Saturday Morning 7a On The Local Take With Kiplyn Primus

Human Sex Trafficking - Child Sex Trafficking- what do these terms really mean? We’ll discuss this and our city’s reputation as the #1 market for human sex trafficking in the world. WCLK engages our community by shining a light and offering possible solutions Saturday at 7a on The Lcoal Take with Kiplyn Primus.

This program is an on-air preview of the Sunday, May 31 WCLK Local Take men only event on Human Sex Trafficking at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights.

It’s estimated that 300,000 children in the U.S. are at risk annually. Most victims are not from immigrants, but from our own neighborhoods - 82% of victims in Atlanta are local. Human Sex Trafficking is big business according to Business Insider. Since 2005 it is estimated Atlanta pimps have been pulling in an average of $33,000 a week, compared to about $12,000 a week in Dallas and about $11,000 in San Diego.

Kiplyn will be joined in studio by Dave McCleary founder of the Atlanta chapter of ENDHTNOW http://endhtnow.com/commit/ and Director of the Rotarian Action Group Against Child Slavery for the Americas. Dave, has made it his mission to raise awareness of children being used in Human Trafficking.

GBI Agent Brian Johnstone is part of that agency’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit. He will talk with Kiplyn about their work to bring an end to Human Sex Trafficking from a law enforcement perspective.
