Jay Edwards Talks M'Boom with Joe Chambers On Jazz Tones on WCLK

Legendary drummer Joe Chambers fronts the latest iteration of Max Roach's  amazing percussion ensemble called M'Boom, appearing 6/14@8p at the Rich Theatre at the Woodruff Arts Center at 8pm.

Jay Edwards on Joe Chambers:

Joe Chambers-- drummer, composer, vibraphonist and educator has performed with numerous icons in Jazz.  A native of Philadelphia and former drummer with Max Roach, Chambers appears in M'Boom. 

I had the opportunity to observe this extraordinary musician move from side man to becoming a Professor of Jazz.  He held the Thomas S Kenan Distguished Professor of Jazz of Music at the University of Wilmington, North Carolina.

Chambers has produced 8 albums and performed with Chick Corea, Eric Dolphy, Wayne Shorter and Miles Davis. This interview focused on his life and the influence of percussion in music.
