On the Sunday, April 29 edition of Jazz Tones from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Jazz 91.9 WCLK, I'll be joined by Monika Herzig. She is a composer, pianist, arranger, author and Head of Indiana University's Music Department. Her recent release Sheroes is the second release of this all female international band.
They are all incredibly accomplished musicians, including: Rosa Avila on drums; Jamie Baum on flute; Myra Casales on percussion; Monika Herzig on piano; Ingrid Jensen on trumpet; Reut Regev on trombone; Ada Rovatti on tenor sax; Leni Stern on electric guitar; and, Jennifer Vincent on bass.
Monika also recently authored Experiencing Chick Corea-A Listener's Companion. This book gives readers a deeper understanding of pivotal musical groups and genres and the creative work of their iconic composers and performers. Monika and her band Sheroes will be gracing the stage of the Atlanta Jazz Festival in May 2018.
