Fulton County Commission Chairman John Eaves joined Rob Maynard on the WCLK Public Affairs Block to talk about his annual Back-To-School Kickoff Event.
From Commissioner Eaves' Press Release: Let’s help our kids prepare for classroom success before the summer ends! To help young people begin another school year on a successful note, Fulton County Commission Chairman John H. Eaves will host a Back-To-School Kickoff at Atlanta Technical College. Barbers will be on hand to provide haircuts to students. School supplies will also be provided to young people to make sure they are ready to learn Day One of the upcoming academic year.
Representatives from Fulton County departments will be on hand provide information on county programs that help young people including S.T.A.R.T. (Services to Advance, Reach & Teach Youth), Kinship Care for young people being raised by a relative and Teen DADS, a life skills program for young fathers. Parents and students can also learn about proper nutrition, stress management and healthy living. In addition to those events, there will be children’s story time, music, crafts and games for the young people in attendance.
For this event, Chairman Eaves has partnered with the Fulton County Office of Children and Youth, the Fulton County Department of Health & Wellness, Atlanta Technical College, Georgia 4-H, Young Entrepreneurs of Atlanta Foundation, Inc., the Young Generation Movement and 100 Black Men of Atlanta, Inc.
