May 15: Joe Gransden & Allan Vache Present A Night Of Benny Goodman @ Breman Museum

Breman Museum

Support for Jazz 91.9 WCLK comes from the Breman Museum, celebrating Atlanta's 31 Days of Jazz by featuring The King of Swing: A Night of Benny Goodman.  The Sunday, May 15 concert will feature Joe Gransden's Big Band and a special guest,  Clarinetist Allan Vaché, bringing to life Benny Goodman's crowd-pleasing hits.  Born in Chicago in 1909 - the ninth of 12 children - to humble Jewish immigrants from Poland and Lithuania, Benny Goodman became one of the most popular American artists, reigning as "The King of Swing" until his death in 1986 at age 77.  Over the years, he played with the greatest figures in Jazz: Bix Beiderbecke, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Mildred Bailey, Bessie Smith and countless others.   Joe Gransden and his 17-piece orchestra are the soul of live Jazz and Big Band. This concert is a part of the Atlanta Jazz Festival's 31 Days of Jazz. Information on tickets and the Breman Museum in Midtown can be found by clicking here.

Joe Gransden and Breman Museum Executive Director, Aaron Berger stopped by Midday Jazz on 91.9 WCLK to talk about this event with Rivablue.
