Most of us are used to hearing Bob Mintzer playing sax with the group the YellowJackets. MCG Jazz Records has just released something new from the Bob Mintzer Big Band titled 'Get Up!'. I really like this record! Bob covered the song I Thank You by David Porter & Isaac Hayes, with Scott Wendholt on trumpet and he does a fabulous job. Bob also covered one of my favorites from Sly Stone with Sing A Simple Song featuring the great Ray Obiedo on guitar. Also on this record Wayne Shorter's Elegant People with Soloist, Bob Malach smoking on Tenor!
