Jazz Tones with your host Jay Edwards features legendary and emerging artists  of mainstream, Latin and Brazilian Jazz.   Jay's goal for his audience is education and entertainment better known as "edu-tainment."  He achieves this during Jazz Tones with  interviews with composers, instumentalists, and vocalists.

Jazz Tones is an ongoing musical journey you can join every Saturday afternoon from two until six.

Dave Bass, Jazz Musician and California Deputy Attorney General, Guests on Jazz Tones

Dave Bass is an extraordinary individual who has co-branded himself as  Deputy State Attorney General of California and a Jazz Pianist who leaves a indelible footprint in Jazz, Latin Jazz and Blues. He attended Berklee School of Music in Boston and left after few months to study with the famed Madame Margaret Charloff. He also studied composition with George Russell.  Jay Edwards and Dave Bass will talk on Jazz Tones today about his career in jazz and as California Deputy Attorney General in Civil Rights Enforcement.

Earl Klugh Performs 4/12 @ Ferst Center Talks With Jay Edwards On JazzTones

Guitarist Earl Klugh returns to the Ferst Center For The Arts at Georgia Tech on Saturday, April 12, with a Night Of Guitars that includes solo, duo and trio performances with fellow guitarists Chuck Loeb and Norman Brown.

Klugh's latest record is Handpicked, a collection of his favorite cover songs.  Klugh and WCLK's Jay Edwards chatted recently about the record, the upcoming Atlanta performance, and his role as an artist inside and outside of jazz.

Wayne Shorter At 80 @ Rialto Center April 5. Shorter Talks With Jay Edwards

Legendary saxophonist and composer Wayne Shorter is celebrating his 80th birthday by touring with a quartet including Danilo Perez, John Patitucci and Brian Blade, in conjunction with Shorter's new record Without A Net.  They appear at the Rialto Center for the Arts at Georgia State University downtown on Saturday, April 5.

Jazz Trumpet virtuoso Arturo Sandoval called in to chat with Jay Edwards on Jazz Tones in advance of his Friday performance at the Ferst Center at Georgia Tech.  Vivacious, talented and charismatic, Arturo Sandoval has traveled the world with his blend of infectious, mind-blowing jazz, winning Grammy, Billboard and Emmy awards. Born in Cuba in 1949, Sandoval is a protégé of jazz master Dizzy Gillespie and has evolved into one of the world’s most acknowledged guardians of jazz trumpet and flugelhorn.

A Conversation Between Malcolm X and President Obama: A One Act Play

Jay Edwards Hosts Jazz Tones On WCLK Saturdays 2-6p

Jay Edwards chatted with playwright and musician Jacqueline Clay Chester on Jazz Tones Saturday.  Ms. Chester's play A Conversation Between Malcolm X and President Obama: A One Act Play,  will be performed  at the Southwest Arts Center March 15-17 at 8pm.

Chester's play suggests its plot in the title, with Malcom's ghost appearing in the White House and the conversation that ensues between these two transformative African American leaders.
