Nicole Sweeney from The Midday Jazz Swing on WCLK is your host as Friday Jazz At The High for June presents the Takana Miyamoto Trio and Russell Gunn, 5p-10p Friday at Atlanta's amazing High Museum.

Takana Miyamoto is a multi award-winning, internationally acclaimed concert pianist, composer and music producer. She bases herself in USA and Japan, and has traveled and performed in 25 countries worldwide including North and South Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Jazz Vocalist Nikki Yanofsky called in to The Midday Jazz Swing to talk about her career and her performance Thursday night May 23 at Atlanta's Fox Theatre as a part of An Evening With Quincy Jones and Friends, a benefit for the American Cancer Society celebrating their 100th birthday.

WCLK as we kick off June as Black Music Month with a special live performance of Cinnamon Tree by Esperanza Spalding.  This performance of Cinnamon Tree comes from Esperanza's return to the Austin City Limits program on PBS. Esperanza's performance can be viewed via Ovee on May 31 at 1:15pm EDT, and will be moderated by Nicole Sweeney from the Midday Jazz Swing on WCLK. Ovee is the new social screening platform that allows you to participate in a group, watching and discussing your favorite PBS and public television programs.

CAU Now returns to WCLK Saturday morning at 7:30 before The Tavis Smiley Show.  Your host is Desmond Dickerson and he will be talking with Dr. Valerie Otero-Marah, a cutting edge cancer researcher whose story has taken her from Kenya to Europe to one of the leading research facilities in America.

Nicole Sweeney is joined on the Midday Jazz Swing today at noon by the Honorable Judge Brenda H. Cole for a discussion about the CAU Guild and it's annual fundraiser Jazz Under The Stars, coming up May 4 with Ramsey Lewis on the CAU Campus.  You can hear their chat on demand at the end of this post.

The CAU Guild has provided over $1.8 million to fund scholarships for students over the years.  Some 1,000 people are expected to attend this year's event, which takes place at 7pm in the Harkness Quadrangle on campus.

Join Nicole Sweeney for Friday Jazz @ The High Museum this evening beginning at 5pm for a double feature that will last until midnight.  Steve Dancz and his sextet will play, followed by the Latin sounds of Willy Ziavino and the C.O.T. Band.
