Power Rising Comes to Atlanta - Star Jones a Founder

Feb 17, 2018

On the February 17 edition of  The Local Take I speak with former prosecutor and member of television's The View Star Jones.  Jones and I discuss the 2018 Power Rising Conference taking place in Atlanta.   Jones is President and a member of the Board of Directors of National Association of Professional Women and Professional Diversity Network.

As one of the founders she shares with us information about the conference and how it came to be from a Congressional Black Caucus Women's meeting.

Join the Department of Speech Communication and Theatre Arts at Clark Atlanta University for a Master Class with Kenny Leon on Monday, October 30 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Davage Auditorium located on the campus of CAU. The CAU Alumnus and Tony Award winner will teach attendees how to direct a play and much more.

Check out this week’s edition of #UPFRONT! My special guests include singer Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas from the Grammy-award winning girl group TLC. She'll be discussing her cameo as Zora Neale Hurston in “Marshall.” The film opens nationwide in theaters this weekend.

The High Museum of Art has a new exhibition debuting today titled, #MAKINGAFRICA. I caught up with the show’s curators Carol Thompson and Amelie Klein to discuss what viewers can expect from the show and more.

Triple threat performer T.C. Carson is starring in Atlanta’s Horizon Theatre production of the musical, mystery romance “Blackberry Daze.” It's running now through August 27.

TV One hosted a very special advanced screening this week for its upcoming original movie, “When Love Kills” and #UPFRONT was there to capture all of the sights and sounds. The red carpet premiere took place at Atlantic Station’s Regal Cinema Theaters and was attended by the film’s cast and crew as well as Atlanta celebrities, influencers and contest winners.
