Congratulations to Clark Atlanta University Alumna Amy Sherald, whose portrait of Michelle Obama was unveiled along with Barack Obama's portrait at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC on February 12, 2018.  Sherald and fellow artist Kehinde Wiley (who painted Barack Obama's portrait), are the first Black artists to receive presidential portrait commissions from the museum.  For more information about the Obama portrait and the ceremony, click

The January edition of CAU Now-Lifting Every Voice on Jazz 91.9 WCLK features the Isabella T. Jenkins Honors and Scholars Program at Clark Atlanta University.  The Program is led by Dr. Teri Platt.  Dr. Platt joined CAU Now and discussed the journey that brought her to this elite program within Clark Atlanta University.  She discusses how the Honors and Scholars Program makes a difference each day.  She also talks about progress and developments in the program, as well as the international presence the program brings to the CAU Campus.

Clark Atlanta University presents Fashioning A Nation: A CAU Perspective, on Saturday, January 27 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the Exhibition Hall of the Thomas W. Cole, Jr. Research Center for Science and Technology.  This event will feature a special presentation in observance of International Holocaust  Remembrance Day, original artwork by CAU students, and a live performance by the CAU Jazz Orchestra. The November edition of CAU Now-Lifting Every Voice on WCLK featured Dr. Jenny L. Jones, Dean of the Whitney M. Young, Jr. School of Social Work at Clark Atlanta University. We discussed the undergraduate, graduate and doctorate levels of the program, current collaborations and student engagement initiatives, and the school's upcoming 2020 Centennial. We also talked about Whitney M. Young, Jr., who was a nationally known civil rights activist and academic who was the first Dean of the school that now bears his name at CAU.
