Community Engagement on WCLK

While APD has a better reputation in the community than many forces across the country, a vigilant public must still 'watch the watchmen.' Saturday morning at 7am on The Local Take on WCLK, I'll talk with  Lee Reid of the Atlanta Citizen Review Board and Jasmine Guy about the ACRB's launch of the "Nobody Needs to Know Campaign" allowing citizens to anonymously lodge complaints or concerns about police officers that they encounter or observe.

Saturday morning at 7am on The Local Take on WCLK I'll speak with Dr. Maya Taylor about an organization that she founded, the South Fulton Arrow Youth Council. The South Fulton Arrow Youth Council is a nonprofit organization that provides rigorous educational leadership training for students in K - 12 and young adults up to age 22.  Most young people are introduced to the organization during their Summer Institute.

The week of November 14 - 18 is American Education week. Saturday on The Local Take on WCLK I spoke with Dr. Moses Norman, Dean of the Clark Atlanta University School of Education about this event.

Saturday, July 16 at 7:00 a.m. on The Local Take, I speak with the newly appointed Rainbow PUSH Executive Director for the Southern Region, Calvin Vismale.

Vismale, a graduate of Morehouse College, shares with us his family background and the history of Rainbow PUSH, the beginning of which was created in 1971 by Rev. Jessie Jackson.  Vismale has a finance background and previously worked with Merrill Lynch and Lehman Bros.  He shares his thoughts on why this makes him an excellent person to lead the organization at this time.
