Urban Nutcracker

On the November 16 edition of The Local Take on Jazz 91.9 WCLK we celebrated Ballethnic, as they present the 25th showing of The Urban Nutcracker for the holiday season.  Performances will be held on December 9 and 10 at the King Chapel on the campus of Morehouse College. Ballethnic, founded by Waverly Lucas II and Nena Gilreath, is the first African American ballet company in Atlanta.

Jazz 91.9 WCLK congratulates Ballethnic Dance Company as it culminates 25 years of excellence in the metro Atlanta arts community with its 22nd annual presentation of its acclaimed "Urban Nutcracker."   The performance runs November 19-22 at the Riverside EpiCenter in Austell.   All WCLK members and friends can enjoy this imaginative full-length ballet with an ethnic twist at a special reduced price on WCLK Family & Friends Night, Friday, November 20 at 8:00 p.m.

One of Atlanta's great family holiday traditions is the Ballethnic Dance Company's Urban Nutcracker, in performance this week November 20-23 at the Robert Ferst Center for The Arts at Georgia Tech.  This trek down Atlanta's Sweet Auburn Avenue includes ballet, tap, and other dance pieces and also reggae dolls spinning and black Russians leaping, all led by Brown Sugar.
