Variety Playhouse presents an evening of Jazz with the one and only Kamasi Washington on Friday, December 8 at 8:00 p.m. Born into a musical family, Kamasi began playing saxophone at the age of 13, later attending the prestigious Hamilton High School of Music followed by UCLA. He has toured and recorded with the likes of Snoop Dogg, Rapahel Saadiq, Kendrick Lamar, Gerald Wilson, Lauryn Hill, Mos Def, Harvey Mason and Chaka Khan, to name a few. 

Lizz Wright plays a special show for NPR's Jazz Night In America with Christian McBride tonight at the Variety Playhouse. Jazz 91.9 WCLK will join Jazz Night in America for a special Atlanta performance by Georgia Native, Lizz Wright, on Friday, September 22, 8:00 p.m. at Variety Playhouse. The Lizz Wright performance will be recorded by Jazz Night in America to be aired at a future date on public radio Jazz stations across the country.  Each edition of Jazz Night in America broadcasts presents some of the best live Jazz performances as well as the stories behind the performances.

Celebrate Atlanta's 31 Days of Jazz by seeing Kamasi Washington live at the Variety Playhouse tonight, May 4. Washington will perform songs from his debut album The Epic, as heard on Jazz 91.9 WCLK. Doors open at 7:00 p.m., showtime is at 8:00 p.m.

Jose James is considered by many to be the greatest contemporary jazz vocalist.  He plays live in ATL tonight at The Variety Playhouse.  Of course he stopped by WCLK to talk with Jamal Ahmad on the Soul of Jazz, and helped Jamal and Mark Angel during our Fiscal Year End Membership Campaign.  Because that's the kind of guy he is.
