Stay outta that traffic jam and swing by Atlanta's High Museum for the latest edition of Friday Jazz At The High. This month's event features the Steve Dancz Sextet and your emcee Jamal Ahmad. You can stroll current exhibits in the Wieland Pavillion Galleries and get your live jazz on at the same time.
As a performer, Steve is a recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts grant, and has performed and/or recorded with many notable artists (including The Chieftains, Eddie Harris, Martin Taylor, Joe Lovano, Kevin Mahogany, Bill Cosby, Dizzy Gillespie, Rufus Reid, John Patitucci and Clark Terry) and has performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), the Vienne Jazz Festival (France), The Brussels Conservatory of Music (Belgium), Tocar la Vida (Argentina), and the first World Festival of Sacred Music (India) at the request of His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama.
Steve stopped by WCLK to chat with Jamal about his music, his baptism in the little heralded Athens GA jazz scene, and how much fun Friday Jazz At The High Museum can be.
