The WCLK family is in a deep state of shock and sadness over the untimely passing of legendary Songstress/Actress Theresa Hightower. Our affiliation with Ms. Hightower goes all the way back to the inception of this radio station. She was always a huge supporter of our endeavors to bring jazz music to the citizens of Metro Atlanta and in turn, we supported her efforts to do the same thing. An Atlanta native, Theresa Hightower is regarded as one of the great jazz and blues vocalists, actresses, and songwriters of her generation. She is a veteran of concert halls, recordings, cabaret, musical theater, stage, and screen. Serving as a cultural ambassador and representing the State Department, she toured Europe, the Middle East and Turkey. She released three timeless recordings and has been featured on a variety of albums from the likes of Freddie Cole to Outkast. Her screen credits include appearances on Greenleaf, In The Heat Of The Night, Tyler Perry's Madea's Witness Protection and a host of others. She will forever be remembered as the "Queen Of The Atlanta Jazz Scene" and we send our sincere condolences to her family and friends.
