Today's edition of #UPFRONT was full of Black star power. We opened the show with Emil Thomas, artistic director of Marietta's New Theatre in the Square. He talked about the company's latest production, "Bright Half Life." The show is playing now through August 5 and is centered around the marriage of two women and the moments that make a life together.
#UPFRONT also talked to "Married to Medicine" star Genise Shelton about her "Bring Our Children Home 5K and Family Day." The event takes place next Saturday, August 5 and focuses on the issue of human sex trafficking + missing and exploited children. Click here to register!
#UPFRONT also featured interviews with the cast of the upcoming film "Detroit"---Algee Smith, Jacob Latimore, Nathan Davis Jr., Joseph David Jones, Ephraim Sykes and Leon Thomas. The Kathryn Bigelow film opens in Atlanta theaters this weekend and nationwide on August 4. The movie chronicles the events that led up to the infamous Detroit riots of 1967 and the Algiers Motel shooting, where three African American youth were killed and nine others, including two white women, were terrorized by Detroit law enforcement.
